Celebrating the 105th Anniversary of the Korean Provisional Government with Cultural Events at the Korean Cultural Center in Shanghai

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Center in Shanghai (Director KANG Yong Min) and the National Memorial of the Korean Provisional Government mark the 105th anniversary of the establishment of the Korean Provisional Government established on April 11, 1919, with events at the Korean Cultural Center in Shanghai. An exhibition titled The Korean Provisional Government: A Colossal Root will run from March 26 (Tue) to May 4 (Sat), showcasing the Provisional Government’s history, alongside cultural events featuring musical performances inspired by the independence movement.

“Visit Korea Year” Promoted at 10 Starbucks Nationwide

On March 19 (Tue), Vice Minister JANG Mi Ran of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST), together with Acting President SEO Young Chung of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) and Starbucks Korea CEO SON Jeong Hyeon, attended the commemorative ceremony for the “Ten Starbucks branches in 2023–2024 Visit Korea Year” at the Starbucks The Bukhansan branch in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul. This event marks a significant step in promoting the “Visit Korea Year” campaign.

“Let’s March Here in March,” A Day Trip by Train for KRW 30,000

The Second Vice Minister JANG Mi Ran of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) participated in the “Let’s March Here in March: The Month of Travel, A Local Journey by Train” program, visiting Taean county to sample local cuisine and experience local activities such as barefoot walking on the Sinduri Coastal Dune and foot bathing at a herb farm. The Vice Minister also solicited feedback from train participants and tourism officials to develop strategies to encourage local tourism.

24 Cities of Culture Attract 2.53 Million Visitors in 2023

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) has spearheaded the “City of Culture[1]” project under the YOON Suk Yeol administration’s national strategy for “balanced regional cultural development,” offering comprehensive and systematic support. In collaboration with the City of Culture Evaluation (Chairperson JUNG Kap Young), the Ministry assessed the outcomes of city of culture development projects over the past year. Consequently, 2.53 million individuals participated in the city of culture events across 24 designated cultural cities. Recognizing these accomplishments, the Ministry awarded Cheongju City (Mayor LEE Beom Seok) the title of “City of Culture of the Year[2].” Seogwipo City, Yeongdo District, and Chuncheon City were also considered exceptional cities promoting balanced growth through culture.
