Special Exhibition “Tree and Serpent: Early Buddhist Art in India” Held as the First Exhibition Introducing the Vibrant World of Southern Indian Art to Korea

The National Museum of Korea (Director General Yoon Sung Yong) will open “Tree and Serpent: Early Buddhist Art in India” on December 22 as its last special exhibition of 2023. This past year, the Museum has focused on post-Renaissance European art, including works from the Austrian Habsburg royal family and the collection of the British National Gallery, which were very well received. This month, the museum is shifting its focus further east and traveling back a millennium to showcase the art of southern India from 2,000 years ago.

Pinkfong and Baby Shark Introduce Korean Culture to Children Worldwide

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) and the Korean Culture and Information Service (Director KIM Jang Ho, KOCIS) have unveiled “LET’S EXPLORE KOREA with Pinkfong and Baby Shark,” an English booklet aimed at introducing Korean culture to children worldwide. This 100-page booklet for children aged 7 to 11 is designed with a fun and easy-to-understand format, involving globally popular characters Pinkfong and Baby Shark. It explores Korea through five chapters, covering symbols and Hangeul, cultural heritage, food, seasons, and cultural arts. Each chapter concludes with a quiz to captivate readers and foster an enjoyable learning experience.

How is Australia preparing for barrier-free tourism for the 2032 Summer Olympics in Brisbane? What strategies are being implemented by the “Best Tourism Villages” as selected by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)? The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST), in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization (CEO KIM Jang Sil, KTO), has organized the “International Accessible Tourism Forum 2023.” This event, focusing on future tourism strategies that embody diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), along with the “2023 International Regional Tourism Promotion Forum,” will be held from December 11 (Mon) to 15 (Fri) in Seoul and Jeju.
