The “Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games (Gangwon 2024)” wrapped up its 14-day journey with the closing ceremony held at the outdoor stage of Gangneung Olympic Park, Gangwon State on February 1 (Thur) at 7:30 p.m. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) collaborated closely with the “Gangwon 2024” Organizing Committee, Gangwon State, the event’s operational team, and volunteers to ensure a successful event.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST, Minister YU In Chon), along with the Organizing Committee for the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 (Gangwon 2024, Chairpersons JIN Jong Oh and LEE Sang Hwa), the promotional ambassador “CLASS:y,” and around 50 applicants for “Local 100,” will visit the site of the “Local 100, Walk Around Gangneung,” second episode of the “Local Journey” campaign on January 26 (Fri) and January 27 (Sat). In particular, Minister YU will promote the campaign by connecting “Gangwon 2024” and “Local 100.”

This marks the second policy announcement following the “Video Industry Leapfrog Strategies,” the initial policy disclosed in the content sector in November of the previous year. Webtoon Industry Revenue in 2022 Reaches KRW 1.829 Trillion, Setting New Record

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) announced the results of the “2023 Webtoon Survey (Businesses and Authors)” in collaboration with the Korea Creative Content Agency (President JO Hyun Rae, KOCCA). In 2022, the webtoon industry achieved KRW 1.829 trillion in sales, the largest ever, marking continuous growth over the five years since the first survey in 2018. This performance underscored Korea’s webtoon industry’s potential as a global leader.
