Explore the Significance of Security and Freedom: DMZ Opens 10 Thematic Trails

Starting May 13 (Mon), the government will open the “DMZ Peace Trail,” featuring 10 thematic routes through the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), allowing participants to directly experience the ecological, cultural, and historical resources unique to the DMZ areas and learn about the importance of security and freedom. Those interested can apply online starting April 30 (Tues) via the DMZ Peace Trail website (www.dmzwalk.com) and the walking tour mobile application “Durunubi.”

March 2024 Sees 1.5 Million Inbound Travelers, Recovering 97% of Pre-COVID Levels

From January to March this year, approximately 3.4 million international tourists visited Korea, marking the highest quarterly volume since the COVID-19 outbreak. March alone accounted for about 1.5 million visitors, the highest monthly figure post-pandemic. Notably, during the fourth week of March, the number of tourists reached about 330,000, achieving a 100.2% recovery compared to the same period in 2019, fully regaining the pre-COVID visitor levels for the first time.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) in collaboration with the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), held the Forum on Understanding of Hallyu Acceptance and Cultural Diversity on April 23 (Tue) at the KOCIS Center in Seoul. The forum aimed to enhance the cultural acceptance of K-content, which is spreading globally, and to explore future directions for Hallyu.
