Celebrating a Century of Table Tennis in Korea: Busan Hosts the Country’s Inaugural World Table Tennis Championships

The “ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals Busan 2024” is set to take place from February 16 (Fri) to February 25 (Sun) at the BEXCO Convention Centre in Busan, South Korea. This championship will see the participation of approximately 2,000 athletes from 40 countries, competing in the men’s and women’s team events. Minister YU In Chon of the MCST will officiate the opening ceremony and celebrate the hosting of the championships in South Korea on Saturday, February 17, at 4 p.m., at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 1.

“Visit Korea Year 2024” features 10 major projects to showcase unique K-culture experiences and promote local tourism in Korea

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST), together with the Korea Tourism Organization (Acting President SEO Young Choong, KTO) and the Visit Korea Committee (Chairperson LEE Bu Jin, Visit Committee) will showcase Korea’s unique K-culture experience and local tourism enjoyed regionally through the 10 major projects for the “Visit Korea Year 2024.”

“Travel Month” March: A Journey Full of Benefits to Uncover Local Wonders

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST), in partnership with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), is launching the “Travel Month” campaign from February 20 (Tue) to March 31 (Sun), aiming to inspire more citizens to explore and revitalize local communities. Last year’s “Travel Month” campaign led to approximately 1.03 million people benefitting from various discounts and embark on trips, resulting in a significant boost in tourism spending of around KRW 13.2 trillion in June alone. In light of these positive domestic revitalization effects, the campaign will now run twice a year, in March and June.

Enjoy Suwon’s Unique Culture with Local 100

Minister YU In Chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) is set to visit the site of the third part of the “Local 100” campaign titled “Enjoying K-Suwon with Local 100” on February 7 (Wed). Made in collaboration with Fabrizio Ferrari (Chef Fabri), the Rwandan broadcaster living in Suwon “Moses,” Suwon-born foreign media specialist PARK Se Jung, and Global SNS Reporters[1] from the Korea Tourism Organization, this event involves about 30 individuals.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) and the Cheong Wa Dae Foundation (Chairperson JUNG Gap Young, the Foundation) are cohosting a cultural event titled “The Daring New Year of the Dragon” during the Lunar New Year holidays from February 9 to 11 (Fri–Sun) at Cheong Wa Dae.
