The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO), is set to unveil an impressive array of over 70 fall travel itineraries. These carefully curated experiences, organized into 11 distinct themes, aim to highlight the diverse local charms of Korea and inspire citizens to venture into every corner of the country during the enchanting autumn season. To further promote domestic travel, the MCST will introduce a variety of incentives to make travel more affordable. These include public train travel events, local excursions with celebrity travel companion YEO Jin Goo, a public travelogue contest, and substantial discounts on transportation and accommodation.

"Autumn's Best" offering eight one-day train tours, taking 2,000 participants to explore 24 charming small towns across Korea

The program features unique thematic tours designed to inspire travelers. More than 70 local travel programs, categorized into 11 distinct themes, are available at a 30% discount. For example, the “Culture Vacation” theme invites visitors to immerse themselves in the region's distinctive cultural heritage, while “Local Festa” highlights autumn-exclusive festivals that capture local traditions. “Local Story” offers a chance to explore the area's rich history, and “Detox Trip” provides a peaceful escape from urban life. Travelers can also capture picturesque fall landscapes with “Life in Four Frames” or indulge in the season’s culinary delights through the “Autumn Table Tour,” which celebrates local seasonal delicacies. In collaboration with the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Korea Rural Community Corporation, special discounts of up to 50% will be available on “Welchon Rural Travel Packages,” further enhancing opportunities for rural exploration.

The “Autumn's Best (Fall in Korea: Local Rail Travel)” offers an exciting one-day train journey for 2,000 participants to explore 24 charming small cities across the country. This unique event provides a variety of experiences, from visiting emerging local hotspots and traditional cultural sites to sampling regional specialties and exploring traditional markets—all along 24 distinct routes. For only KRW 49,000 per person, the package includes transportation, meals, and admission to tourist attractions. The program will run eight times on November 1, 8, 12, and 13. Participants can apply in groups of up to four, except for Friday, November 1, which is reserved for families with two or more children, allowing groups of up to six people. Selection will be determined by lottery, and full details can be found on the official website (korean.visitkorea.or.kr/travelmonth).

Expanded engagement events: “Travel Buddy YEO Jin Goo” and “Travelogue Contest”

Furthermore, in November, actor YEO Jin Goo will take part in a special journey to Gapyeong as a celebrity travel companion. During the “Travel Buddy Yeo Jin-goo” event, he will explore renowned attractions such as Jara Island and the Garden of Morning Calm, while also uncovering lesser-known tourist spots alongside participants. Applications for this unique experience will be accepted via the official MCST website from October 22 to October 27, and 20 lucky participants will be selected via lottery.

In addition, a “Travelogue Contest” will be held to encourage travelers to share their travel experiences. Participants are invited to submit travelogues along with photos documenting their journeys to destinations within Korea during the “Fall in Korea” campaign. Submissions can be made via the Google Form link available on the official website. The most captivating and memorable entries will be rewarded prizes, with the top submission being featured on the official MCST website and social media channels.

Minister YU In Chon stated, “We have curated a wide range of affordable and diverse travel experiences to help Koreans create lasting memories this fall, following the challenging summer heat. Our hope is that everyone takes the opportunity to explore every corner of Korea, savoring the country's unique beauty while also contributing to the revitalization of local economies.”
