Remembering the 70-Year History of the ROK-US Alliance

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) and the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History (Director Han Su, MUCH), under the jurisdiction of the Ministry, are set to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the ROK-US alliance and the 141st anniversary of the United States–Korea Treaty of 1882 by reevaluating the history of the diplomatic, security, civil exchange, and cultural aspects of the ROK-US relations throughout 2023.

“2023-2024 Korea-Thailand Mutual Visit Year,” Discussion on Expanded Tourism Exchange

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) and the Korea Tourism Organization (CEO KIM Jang Sil, KTO), hosted the “2023 Korea-Thailand Tourism Forum” at The Shilla Seoul’s Yeong Bin Gwan on June 27 (Tue). The forum, celebrating the “2023-2024 Korea-Thailand Mutual Visit Year,” served as an avenue to discuss strategies to expand tourism exchanges between the two countries.

The Korean language learning craze continues in 2023 with the designation of 19 new King Sejong Institutes in 16 countries

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) announced that as a result of the New Designation of King Sejong Institute 2023 with the King Sejong Institute Foundation (Chairman LEE Hai Young, KSIF), 19 institutes would be newly designated in 16 countries. As of 2023, it is now possible to learn Korean at 248 institutes in 85 countries around the world.

Illuminating the Value of the 70-Year US–ROK Alliance Through the Humanities

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) in collaboration with the Korean Library Association (Chairman NAM Young Joon), the Library of Congress, and the Los Angeles Public Library, will be hosting the “Humanities on the Library Path” event in Washington, D.C. (June 26–27) and LA (June 29–30) to commemorate the 70 years of the US–ROK alliance.

“Seoul International Book Fair 2023” Leaps Forward as a Global Platform for Publishing Exchange and Marketing

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) and the Korean Publishers Association (Chairman YOON Chul Ho, KPA) host the “Seoul International Book Fair 2023” at COEX (Gangnam-gu, Seoul) from June 14 (Wed) to 18 (Sun). This year’s book fair, which is the 65th since its first inception in 1954, aims to promote the charm of K-books on a global scale, going beyond Asia and becoming a central hub for international publishing exchange and a platform for marketing advancement. The event is expanded compared to last year, breaking free from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
