The Mesopotamian Gallery of the Permanent Exhibition Hall at the National Museum of Korea Presents the Exhibition Mesopotamia: Great Cultural Innovations, Selections from The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The National Museum of Korea (Director-General: YOON Sung Yong) has recently established the Mesopotamian Gallery within its Permanent Exhibition Hall and is presenting an exhibition entitled Mesopotamia: Great Cultural Innovations, Selections from The Metropolitan Museum of Art. This marks the first exhibition on Mesopotamian civilization to be hosted by a national museum in Korea. As the first long-term exhibition in Korea to showcase Mesopotamian cultural heritage, the exhibition was co-organized with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the United States, which possesses a world-class collection of Mesopotamian artifacts. The exhibition will run for a year and a half, from July 22, 2022 to January 28, 2024.

Minister PARK requests support for 2030 Busan Expo in Madrid

During the “Korea Week” in Spain, Minister of Culture, Sport and Tourism (MCST) PARK Bo Gyoon met with María Reyes Maroto Illera, Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism of Spain to exchange opinions on promoting bilateral tourism exchanges. In particular, Minister PARK widely shared the Korean government's will to host the World Expo 2030 in Busan. The Minister said, “Busan has rich experience in hosting international mega events, including the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit and the Korea-ASEAN Summit. If the World Expo is held in Busan, it will serve as a stage to solve the challenges that the international community is facing such as climate change, health crisis, and polarization of high-tech technologies”, requesting active support and cooperation from Spain.

Korea Week in Spain from July 8 to 14

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST), the Korea Tourism Organization (Acting President SHIN Sang-yong, KTO), and the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute (President KIM Dae Kwan, KCTI) host "Korea Week" in Madrid and Santiago (Spain) from July 8 (Fri) to 14 (Thur). Minister PARK pays visit to Spain and discuss ways to cooperate in tourism between Korea and Spain. This Ministerial visit was prepared as a follow-up from October 2019, when King Felipe VI made a state visit to Korea. The two nations designated the year 2020-2021 as the year of mutual visits and Korea and Spain agreed to extend one year of this mutual exchange in June last year.

Exploring Ways to Enhance K-Content and Building a Culturally Attractive Nation

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (President JO Hyun-Rae, KOCCA) hosted an expert forum on June 29 entitled “K-Content and OTT Promotion Forum to Build a Culturally Attractive Nation,” which was held at the KOCCA Content Korea Lab in Seoul with industry experts and academic leaders in attendance.

Gimpo-Haneda Reopens from June 29

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST), the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (Minister WON Hee-ryong, MOLIT), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minister PARK Jin, MOFA) anounced that an agreement has been reached with the Japanese government to resume international flights between Gimpo and Haneda from June 29 (Wed), unveiling plans to implement campaigns to welcome inbound tourists.
