This ceremony marks the start of the activities that the members of the “Friends of Korea” start to find incorrect information about Korea and correct them.

SONG Ga-In Became “2022 Hanbok Honorary Ambassador”

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) appointed singer SONG Ga-In as the “2022 Hanbok Honorary Ambassador”. SONG made debut in 2012 and has appeared in various famous TV shows, including “Miss Trot”. SONG finally became the winner of the show in 2019 and has led the huge popularity of trot music[1]. SONG originally started as Pansori[2] singer when she was in middle school. During her many performances at TV shows and on stages, SONG has worn Hanbok, showing the beauty of the Korean traditional costumes.

Three Thousand Workers to be Located to Make Safer Tourist Attractions

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) will locate three thousand (3,000) workers from the tourism industry, including those who are on leave or unemployed due to COVID-19, as a supplementary staff to make a safer environment at the tourist attractions. MCST has developed this plan to strengthen quarantine measures in tourism spots and to prepare the situation when there will be increased number of people in the tourist attractions after the pandemic peak has passed. Additional staff will be doing preventive measures during this challenging time and providing safer places for people to visit in the post COVID-era.

Gyeongsangbuk-do Selected as the “2022 Wellness Tourism District”

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) newly selected Gyeongsangbuk-do (Yeongju, Yeongyang, Yeongdeok, Bonghwa, Uljin) as a “Wellness Tourism District (cluster)” for 2022. As interest in wellness and relaxation increase after COVID-19 pandemic, “wellness tourism” is expected to grow significantly[1]. Discovering resources for wellness tourism in each region will greatly contribute to revitalizing the local tourism industry, which faced difficulty during the pandemic all over the world.
