2022 K-Musical Market to be held from June 21 to 23 at Seoul

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) and the Korea Arts Management Service (President MOON Young Ho, KAMS) will hold the “K-Musical Market” at Sejong Center for the Performing Arts and Daehkro from June 21 (Tue) to 23 (Thur). This international market will be a venue for showcasing Korean creative musical works to major musical producers and investors at home and abroad and supporting investment attraction as well providing consultation. MCST held the first “K-Musical Market” last year to strengthen the investment for Korean musicals to advance into the international market. After the first K-Musical Market last year, 28 creative musicals were presented to domestic and foreign production companies and investment companies, and two overseas copyright contracts were signed and investment of more than 300 million won were made.

23 King Sejong Institutes to Newly Open in 19 countries

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) and the King Sejong Institute Foundation (President LEE Haiyoung, KSIF) announced on June 16 (Thur) that 23 newly designated King Sejong Institutes in 19 countries will open for its operation. As of 2022, the new designation brings the total number of KSIs to 244 in 84 countries, reaching a total of 580,000 students from 2007. The KSI aims to help non-Koreans learn the Korean language and culture in accordance with Articles 19 and 19-2 of the 「Framework Act on Korean Language」.

Year of Mutual Cultural Exchange between Korea and Kazakhstan starts with K-Pop concert

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST), the Korean Cultural Center in Kazakhstan (Director LEE Hye-ran), and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (President JUNG Kilhwa, KOFICE) will hold “Hello! K-Pop Festa (Сәлем! K-POP Festa)” at the Central Concert Hall in NurSultan, the capital city of Kazakhstan on Saturday June 18 at 4 pm (local time, 7 pm Korean time). The K-Pop Festa (Сәлем! K-POP Festa) shows the start of 2022-2023 Korea-Kazakhstan Year of Mutual Cultural Exchange. With the start of this concert, the two countries will promote various cultural exchange events for the upcoming two years.

CRAVITY Became the 2022 Korean Culture Ambassador

The Korean Culture and Information Service (Director PARK Myeongsun, KOCIS) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) announced on June 15 that CRAVITY (K-Pop boy band of nine members) will be serving as the 2022 ambassador for Korean culture. The Korean culture ambassador will share the charm of Korean culture in the world. CRAVITY, known as the 4th generation idol group in Korea, made debut in 2020. The group has a fandom at home and abroad for its intensive and refreshing performance and they recently had a successful concert in the US.
