South Korea recorded 15th in WEF Travel & Tourism Development Index

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) announced that Korea ranked 15 out of 117 nations in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Travel and Tourism Development Index in 2021. This is the highest record South Korea ranked ever since the World Economic Forum published the travel and tourism index on a biennial basis since 2007. By country, Japan, the United States, Spain, France, and Germany took the top rank. In Asia, Korea ranked 4th place, followed by Japan, Singapore, China, and South Korea. South Korea ranked in 15th overall and has stepped up 4 stages from 19th in 2019, which is the largest increase among the top 30 countries.

Marking the 140th Anniversary of Korea-US Diplomatic Ties, Growing Even Closer through Cultural Exchanges

In celebration of 140 years of diplomatic ties between Korea and the US, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) will be hosting various culture festivals starting this May in three major US locations (Washington DC, New York (NY), and Los Angeles (LA)), in collaboration with the Korean Foundation for International Culture Exchange (KOFICE) and the Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS) with Korean Cultural Centers (KCC) in Washington DC, NYC, and LA.

Inauguration Ceremony for Training Young Athletes from Snowless Region Took Place on May 30

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST), Gangwon Province (Governor CHOI Moon-soon), and the Pyeongchang 2018 Legacy Foundation (President RYU Seung Min) held inauguration ceremony on training winter sports to young athletes from snowless nations on May 30 (Mon) at the Pyeongchang Alpensia Convention Center.

2022 Seoul International Book Fair “One Small Step”

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) and the Korean Publishers Association (President YOON Cheol-Ho, KPA) will host the 28th Seoul International Book Fair (SIBF) at COEX (Seoul) from June 1 (Wed) to 5 (Sun). This year’s SIBF is the first grand offline event after pandemic. SIBF has been serving as a communication platform among publishers, writers, and readers at home and abroad. This year’s theme is “One Small Step”, meaning that one small step is the courageous act that overcame the prejudice and took a step forward in marking the start of the big change in the world. This year SIBF is the first time to be organized as offline event since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Commemorating Six Decades of Diplomatic Relations, Korea and Mexico seek future cultural cooperation

Minister PARK Bo Gyoon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) met Mexico Culture Minister Alejandra Frausto Guerrero at the National Museum of Korea on May 27 (Fri) to discuss cultural cooperation on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
