Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards 2022 Held on Nov. 24

The Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards 2022, the highest-honor government awards in the field of popular culture and arts, was held at the Haeoreum Grand Theater of the National Theatre of Korea in Seoul on November 24, 2022 (Thur). Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) and organized by the Korea Creative Content Agency (President JO Hyun Rae, KOCCA), the Award has been held each year since it was first introduced in 2010 to raise social recognition of popular culture and arts and commend those who have contributed to the advancement of the popular culture sector and the spread of the Korean culture.

Achieving USD 16.64 million in Exports in the World's Largest Broadcast Video Market

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) and the Korea Creative Content Agency (President JO Hyun rae, KOCCA) took part in the world's largest broadcasting and video content marketplace, "Marché International des Programmes de Communication (MIPCOM) 2022" held in Cannes, France from October 17 (Mon) to 20 (Thu), and helped garner export volume of approximately USD 16.64 million (approximately KRW 22.05 billion), which was more than double that of the year before. And on the strength of the boosted demand for Hallyu content, Korean content or K-Content makes their first appearance at the “Dubai International Content Market (DICM) 2022” from November 23 (Wed) to 24 (Thu) to advance to the Middle East and North African markets for the first time.

Traditional Korean Culture to Be Presented in Bangkok, Thailand through Immersive Digital Media Inauguration of an Immersive Gallery of Korean Art at the National Museum Bangkok

The National Museum of Korea (Director General: Yoon Sung Yong), in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Thailand, is presenting a new Korean gallery featuring immersive content at National Museum Bangkok. The exhibition will be held from November 20 (Sun.), 2022 through May 21 (Sun.), 2023. It presents two immersive digital content works digitally reinterpreting Korean traditional cultural heritage and two Buddhist sculptures, one from Korea and the other from Thailand, symbolizing the time-honored Buddhist traditions of the two countries.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) has stepped up its collaborative efforts with related public and private organizations to ensure the safety of participants and visitors at the nation’s largest international game exhibition G-STAR 2022 (Game Show & Trade, All-Round) and 2022 Korea Game Awards. The 1st Vice Minister of MCST, JEON Byung Geuk, visited Busan’s BEXCO in the afternoon on November 16, 2022 (Wed), where the G-STAR exhibition is to be held three years after the COVID-19 outbreak, to conduct a preliminary safety check before attending Korea Game Awards 2022 to honor award recipients.

“Korea: Cubically Imagined,” to Be Held in Dubai & Abu Dhabi from Nov. 16 to Dec. 4, Will Feature 20 Installations of Cutting-edge Technology Convergence Content

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) together with the Korea Creative Content Agency (President Jo Hyun-rae, KOCCA) will hold “Korea: Cubically Imagined,” an exhibition themed on cutting-edge technology convergence content in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from November 16 to December 4 (local time). Cutting-edge technology convergence content refers to presentations of content from a variety of sectors using VFX, VR, AR, AI and other technologies to offer new and immersive experiences. The exhibition will be held in the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai (Nov 16 to 30) and the Korean Cultural Center in Abu Dhabi (Nov 20 to Dec 4).
