“Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024,” pledged for a successful hosting in commemoration of G-200

The Organizing Committee for the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 (Co-President LEE Sang-hwa and JIN Jong-oh, YOGOC) held an event to commemorate the G-200 day at Seoul Olympic Parktel, Songpa-gu, on July 6 (Thur). The uniform and back of the medal were unveiled for the first time. PARK Bo Gyoon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, who attended the event, said, “Gangwon 2024 will become a platform for future generations from around the world to unite and cooperate for a better world. Let’s start strong so that the competition will receive the most support from the fans.”

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) and the Korea Tourism Organization (President KIM Jang Sil, KTO) announced the results of the “New Korea Unique Venue[1] Designation Competition.” Fifteen venues, including “P.ARK,” “Sejahtera Forest RCE Tongyeong,” and “Taekwondowon,” have been newly selected. With this expansion, the number of internationally renowned conference venues in Korea has increased to 52.

K-musical Now Leading the K-culture

In the post–COVID-19 world, K-musicals, as the vanguard of the domestic performing arts market, are leading to extend the influence of K-culture beyond Asia to the established musical markets of the United States and Europe, the home of musicals. To support this initiative, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) hosted the “K-musical Vision Presentation” on June 30, revealing policy initiatives supporting K-musicals and discussing overseas expansion efforts.

The National Museum of World Writing Systems Inaugurated, a Hub for Research and the Exhibition of World Writing Systems

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) inaugurated the National Museum of World Writing Systems (Director KIM Joo Won) in Songdo International City, Incheon, on June 29 (Thur); it is expected to serve as the global center for the study and display of world writing systems. The National Museum of World Writing Systems, backed by a budget of KRW 61.1 billion, covers a total area of 15,650 m². The museum features a permanent exhibition hall in the basement 1, a special exhibition hall and children’s interactive exhibition hall on the first floor, and a cafeteria on the second floor. The building, named “Pages,” has an exterior that resembles an unfurled white scroll. It is expected to become a new attraction in Songdo, blending harmoniously with the surrounding park and landscape.
