Combating K-Content Copyright Infringement in Cooperation with the Philippines and Vietnam

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yu In Chon, MCST) and the Korea Copyright Protection Agency (President Park Jung Youl, KCOPA) convened the 2024 International Cooperation Conference on Copyright Protection on June 25 (Tue) to address criminal investigations related to copyright infringement of K-content and to establish an effective international cooperative investigation system. The conference was joined by over 70 participants, including representatives from the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation, Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security, US Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Interpol, and the Korean National Police Agency.

Promote Korea’s UNESCO World Heritage with International Content Creators

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) holds eight sessions of the “UNESCO World Heritage Explore” program from June 22 to November. The aim is to introduce international expatriates living in Korea to UNESCO World Heritage sites and help them understand their value. The UNESCO World Heritage Explore program, conducted annually since 2014, has been promoting a positive image of Korea by introducing foreign nationals living in Korea to its globally recognized traditional cultural heritage.

Newly Designate 18 King Sejong Institutes in 15 countries this year, totaling 256 in 88 countries

On Monday, June 24, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST), together with the King Sejong Institute Foundation (President LEE Hai Young), announced the designation of 18 new King Sejong Institutes in 15 countries in 2024. This brings the total number of King Sejong Institutes to 256 in 88 countries worldwide, offering students Korean language and culture classes.

K-Comics and Webtoons Meet Fans in Six Asian and European Countries

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) together with the Korea Creative Content Agency will initiate the “K-Comics World Tour” across six countries in Southeast Asia and Europe, spanning Vietnam, Indonesia, Belgium, Italy, and Singapore. The tour will commence in the Philippines on June 21.
