“Travel Month” Returns in June with More Local Tourism Content, Reaching All Corners of Korea with Bustling Local Tourism

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) together with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) is actively promoting the charm of local tourism and boost consumption through domestic travel from May 14 (Tue) to June 30 (Sun) with the “June Travel Month” campaign. Last February, the government designated “Travel Month” as one of its major policies to stabilize people’s livelihood, implementing the policy in March and June for the first time this year. During the “March Travel Month” campaign, the nation’s total travel volume (269 million people) and tourism consumption (KRW 13.5 trillion) increased by about 3.1% year over year, revitalizing local tourism across the country even during a usually slower travel season. For the “June Travel Month” campaign, more than 240 organizations, including the central government, local governments, and the private sector, have prepared a wider range of abundant benefits and offerings than in March.

Spend a Day with King Sejong on His Birthday

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) held the “A Day with King Sejong” event at Gyeongbokgung Palace and Sejong Center on May 14 and 15 to commemorate the 627th birthday of King Sejong (May 15). On the 14th, Minister YU attended the “Sejong Yi Do (李祹) Birthday Ceremony (haryeyeon)” at the Sujeongjeon area in Gyeongbokgung Palace to celebrate the great king’s birthday.

MCST to Celebrate King Sejong’s Birthday with Korean Language Events across the Country in May

Gamers Review Loot Box Information Disclosure Practices as Part of a “One-Day Monitoring Group”

On May 8, Minister YU In Chon of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) participated as a member of the one-day monitoring group focusing on probabilistic game items (also known as loot boxes) at Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC, Chairman KIM Kyu Chul) office in Seoul. He was joined by gamers, including former pro gamer HONG Jin Ho and pro gamer MOON Ho Jun.

MCST Promotes Cruise Tours to Captivate Cruise Enthusiasts Worldwide

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) plans to elevate global awareness of Korea’s global festival as the country’s flagship tourism product and engage in all-out efforts to discover local cruise-related tourism products. To promote the Incheon Pentaport Music Festival, the first of the “global festivals” scheduled this August, the Ministry hosted a promotional event at the Incheon Port Cruise Terminal on May 7. Domestic and overseas promotions were organized to promote the appeal of Korea’s representative global festivals, including showcases.
