Korean Athletes Reaffirm Commitment to Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games

Minister YU In Chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) delivered a letter of encouragement to all members of the Korean Olympic Team for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, wishing them success and good performance. The inaugural ceremony for Team Korea for the 2024 Paris Olympics was held at the Olympic Hall in Olympic Park on July 9 (Tue).

“Friends of Korea” to Address Inaccurate Information about Korea Found Abroad

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) is recruiting the 17th cohort of “Friends of Korea”, which is a group of people actively seeking out and investigating inaccurate information about Korea through the “FACTS about KOREA” website until July 17. Launched in September 2016, “FACTS about KOREA” aims to correct inaccurate information about Korea found abroad. The service operates in ten foreign languages globally and receives an average of 1,700 reports annually. As of June 2024, nearly 5,000 inaccuracies have been corrected.

Showcasing Korean Art to the World in Celebration of the Paris Olympics

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yu In Chon, MCST), in collaboration with the Korea Arts Management Service (Acting Director KIM Beom-hoon), will host the Korean art exhibition Decoding Korea from July 26 (Fri) to August 25 (Sun) at the Grand Palais Immersif in Paris to coincide with the 2024 Paris Olympics. NewJeans Appointed as 2024 Honorary Ambassadors of Korea Tourism

On July 11, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST, led by Minister Yu In Chon) officially appointed the K-pop girl group NewJeans as the 2024 honorary ambassadors to promote Korean tourism worldwide. During the appointment ceremony, Minister Yu presented the group with a commemorative plaque, marking the beginning of their role in promoting Korean tourism for the upcoming year. The event also featured the premiere of new Korean tourism videos starring NewJeans along with a lively onstage interview.
