Celebrating Lunar New Year with Delightful and Diverse Cultural Events Across the Globe

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) announced that it will host a wide range of cultural events at the 22 Korean Cultural Centers (KCCs) in 20 countries across the globe to celebrate the Lunar New Year, or Seollal. This year’s Seollal events will provide opportunities for people around the world to experience Korea’s traditional New Year festivities, such as sebae (bowing before older relatives), tteokguk (rice cake soup), seolbim (putting on new clothes for Seollal), and traditional games.

Korea Records 810,000 Cruise Visitors in 2024

Korea welcomed a total of 810,000 tourists aboard 414 cruise ships in 2024, nearly tripling and doubling the numbers of its tourists and cruise ships year-on-year from 273,000 and 203, respectively. This is an exceptional feat for Korea compared to the global growth in cruise tourism by 1.13x during the same period.

Korea Grand Sale 2025, Revitalizing Inbound Tourism and Domestic Markets

On January 15 (Wednesday), the opening day, Vice Minister visited the OnDream Society (Seoul) to meet with the representatives of the participating businesses, hear their feedback, and offer words of encouragement. She also toured the shopping and tourism district in Myeong-dong and welcomed international tourists at the Welcome Center.
