National Sports Participation Rate Reaches 62.9% in 2025, Up 2.2%p YoY

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) CHAE Hwi-young visited The Hyundai Seoul on January 22 (Thursday) to inspect the progress of the “2026 Korea Grand Sale (December 17, 2025 – February 22, 2026)” and to gather on-site feedback on measures to increase international tourist arrivals. The Korea Grand Sale is Korea’s flagship shopping and tourism festival, designed to promote inbound travel and consumer spending during the off-peak tourism season.

South Korea’s Favorability Rating Reaches 82.3%—Which Country Likes Korea Most?

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the results of the “2025 Survey on Korea’s National Image,” conducted from October 1 to 31, 2025, across 26 countries with a total of 13,000 respondents. The results showed that 82.3% of respondents hold a favorable view of South Korea, marking a 3.3%p increase from the previous year and the highest since the survey was first launched in 2018.

MCST Conducted Policy Briefings with 59 Affiliated and Public Organizations

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism conducted four policy briefings for a total of 59 affiliated, public, and major related organizations from January 13 to January 16. These briefings were designed to ensure the swift implementation of follow-up measures outlined during the Presidential briefing on December 16 and to assess each organization’s capacity to address field issues in a timely manner.
