K-Musical Marie Curie Makes its Debut in the UK

The Korean original musical Marie Curie is scheduled to premiere in London’s West End. Directed and performed by an English production crew and cast, Marie Curie will be showcased at the Charing Cross Theatre from June 1 to July 28. The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) and the Korean Cultural Centre UK will organize various promotional events, including Press Night and Gala Concert, to promote the success of K-Musical.

Minister YU In Chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) visited Chuncheon (Mayor YOOK Dong Han, Chuncheon) in Gangwon State for the fifth part of the “Local 100” campaign, titled “Go Local to See Local 100” (“Go Local”) on May 31 (Fri). Starting with Miryang in December last year, Minister YU has been visiting Local 100 sites across the country every month, including Gangneung in January, Suwon in February, and Changwon and Tongyeong in March.

Korea’s Inaugural Move Toward Tourism Collaboration with Africa, the “Continent of the Future”

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) hosted the 2024 Korea-Africa Tourism Forum on June 3 (Mon) at Four Seasons Hotel Seoul, in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization (Acting President SEO Young Chung, KTO) and the UN Tourism on the occasion of the 2024 Korea-Africa Summit. Minister YU In Chon officiated the forum’s opening, joined by Prithvirajsing Roopun, President of the Republic of Mauritius, along with five African ministers and vice ministers, including Nigeria’s Minister of Tourism, and Chairperson of the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board.

He also visited event sites in Hongdae (Hongik University Street) and Gwanghwamun to welcome foreign tourists and encourage those involved in the K-beauty and tourism industries.

MCST to Explore a New Balance between Generative AI and Copyright with Global Copyright Experts

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST), together with the Korea Copyright Commission (Acting Commissioner LEE Dae Hee, KCC), is set to hold the Seoul Copyright Forum 2024 under the theme “Generative AI & Copyright: Striking a New Balance” at The Ambassador Seoul -A Pullman Hotel on June 4 (Tue). This forum will also be live-streamed online on the KCC’s YouTube channel, in line with the keen global interest in artificial intelligence (AI) and copyright.
