The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister CHAE Hwi-young, MCST) will be hosting the 2025 Broadcast Worldwide (BCWW) from September 16 (Tuesday) to 19 (Friday) at COEX in Seoul, in collaboration with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA).

Marking its 25th anniversary in 2025, BCWW has gradually evolved into Asia’s largest broadcast and over-the-top (OTT) content marketplace, supporting the export of K-content while promoting information exchanges among industry stakeholders at home and abroad. In 2024, the event drew more than 10,000 industry participants from over 30 countries, generating approximately USD 86.24 million (KRW 119.7 billion) in export contracts.

This year’s edition will be held under the theme “Window to What’s Next,” under the objective to invigorate the broadcast and OTT video sector, poised to shape the KRW 300 trillion K-culture era. The event will feature exhibitions by content and platform companies, demonstrations and showcases,  and business matching programs to connect producers, buyers, and investors. Moreover, a diverse lineup of lectures will spotlight the latest technologies and trends of the sector, while various public-friendly events will be open to all visitors, including the K-OTT and Smart TV[1]-based Free-Ad supported Streaming TV (FAST) exhibition halls.

France to join as Guest Country in celebration of 140 years of Korea-France relations in 2026

This year, France is invited as the Guest Country to further promote international exchanges while celebrating 140 years of diplomatic ties between France and Korea in 2026. For the occasion, representatives of leading companies in broadcasting, OTT, film, and animation will take part in the event, along with the National Center for Cinema and Moving Image (CNC), which provides comprehensive support for the French video industry. Special programs will include the Joint France Pavilion, company content showcases, and lectures, providing new opportunities for mutual growth by expanding cooperation in exports and joint productions between the two countries’ content industries.

Furthermore, content experts from various subsectors will take the stage to share their insights on the evolving landscape, industry trends and future strategies. More than ten keynote sessions and lectures, the event will provide a rich forum for knowledge and insights. Highlights include “The Creator Economy: Fandom-Driven Video Content Ecosystems” by CEO Lee Myung-han of Egg is Coming; “The Competition and Expansion of Media Platforms” by Alan Wolk, renowned media academic and the originator of the term FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV)[2]; “AI and the Future of Content”; and “FAST Platforms: A New Gateway for K-Content.”

BCWW 2025 will also open the K-OTT and FAST exhibition halls to all visitors. The K-OTT Pavilion will showcase content from major platforms, including Coupang Play and Tving, featuring works like Shooting Start and The Iron Girls as well as upcoming releases scheduled for the second half of the year. The FAST Pavilion, a rapidly emerging channel for K-content distribution, will host live demonstrations and hands-on experience programs by leading domestic service providers. Visitors will have the chance to explore various streaming services firsthand and gain a glimpse into the growth potential of FAST content services.
