To celebrate the upcoming Chuseok holiday, a special exhibition where you can feel and purchase the fashion and charm of Hanbok, Korean Tradition apparel, is here for you to spend Chuseok holiday with abundant traditional cultural experiences, including making Songpyeon[1] and playing Tuho[2] in an expanded virtual world. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) and the Korea Craft &Design Foundation (President KIM Taehoon, KCDF) organize a special exhibition to experience Korean traditional games and play (Tuho) and make Korean traditional food Songpyeon in the expanded virtual world (Metaverse) space Zepeto[3] on September 17th (Thu).

International Typography Biennale: Typojanchi 2021

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) hosts and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (President KIM Tae Hoon, KCDF) and the Organizing Committee of International Typography Biennale organize Typojanchi 2021 under the title of A Turtle and A Crane at Culture Station Seoul 284 from September 14th (Tuesday) to October 17th (Sunday). Marking the 7th anniversary in 2021, the exhibition initiated from the idea that letters were symbols of representing peoples’ long-lasting desire, hope, and trust. The theme of the exhibition is Typography and Life. The title of the exhibition this year was the popular quote in Korea some 4 decades ago, representing wish for longevity and immortal life of people.

The 32nd UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize was held virtually in September 9th in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris. The purpose of the UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize is to award the efforts of institutions, organizations, or individuals for their contribution to the fight against illiteracy in commemoration of King Sejong, who invented the Korean alphabet, Hangeul, in 1443.

The Seoul International Book Fair (SIBF) 2021 will be held from September 8th to 12th via both offline (Seongsu-dong S Factory) and online (sibf.or.kr). This annual international Book Fair is organized by the Korean Publishers Association (Chairperson, Yoon, Cheol-ho) and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST, Minister Hwang, Hee). Under the theme of ‘Punctuation’, SIBF 2021 seeks to offer an opportunity for people to both enjoy the Book Fair on-site and at home. The theme ‘Punctuation’ gives us opportunity to think whether the pandemic is a full stop of our life or a comma that grants us temporary rest before we continue with our previous lives.

This international event will also be streamlined in real-time via the official website of BCWW (www.bcww.kr). Started from 2001, the BCWW has been serving as the topmost broadcast content market in Asia and a driving force of the Korean contents exporting to the overseas market.
