The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST), in partnership with the Korea Creative Content Agency (CEO JO Hyun Rae, KOCCA) hosted the “2023 Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards”—the highest government accolade in the popular culture and arts sector—on October 21 (Sat) at the Haeoreum Grand Theater of the National Theater of Korea. The ceremony included celebratory performances and was livestreamed through KOCCA and the “THE K-POP” YouTube channel.

Minister YU In Chon Ensures Thorough Preparations for “Gangwon 2024”

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) Minister, YU In Chon, inspected the preparations for the Winter Youth Olympic Games 2024 (Gangwon 2024) in Pyeongchang and Gangneung on October 18 (Wed), touring the venues and the Youth Olympic Villages. Minister was joined on-site by KIM Jin Tae, the Governor of Gangwon State, KWON Hyuk Yeol, the Chairman of the Gangwon Provincial Council, and KIM Chul Min, the Secretary General of the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 Organising Committee.

2023 Hanbok Culture Week: A Good Day to Wear Hanbok

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) together with the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (President JANG Dong Kwang, KCDF) showcased a Hanbok exhibition in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and other areas of the country from October 16 (Mon) to 22 (Sun). The 2023 Hanbok Culture Week will be held under the theme “A Good Day to Wear Hanbok!” “Hanbok Culture Week” is held every third week of October to promote the spread of traditional Korean costume culture for everyday life through various programs, such as exhibitions, experiences, and fashion shows related to Hanbok.

“Welcome Daehakro Festival” Promotes Korea’s Premier Performing Arts District

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST, Minister YU In Chon) is partnering with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO, CEO KIM Jang Sil), Jongno-gu, and the Korea Performing Arts and Tourism Association to host the “Welcome Daehakro Festival 2023” from October 14 (Sat) to 28 (Sat) in Daehakro, the heart of Korean culture and arts. This event aims to promote the global appeal of Korean performing arts tourism. MCST Second Vice Minister JANG Mi Ran graced the opening ceremony on October 15 (Sun) at the car-free street in Daehakro, offering encouragement to the organizers and staff.

Gangwon 2024 G-100: Torch Tour Starts in major cities

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST), together with the Organising Committee of the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 (YOGOC) and Gangwon State Government (Gangwon State), will host a “Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games (opening on January 19, 2024, Gangwon 2024) G-100 Commemorative Event” at Seoul Plaza on October 11, at 7:00 p.m. The Ministry will use this event as an opportunity to expedite preparations for the Games and actively engage in various promotional activities to foster heightened public interest and participation.
