The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) operates a “Korea Booth” and hosts “K-POP SUPER LIVE” at the “World Scout Jamboree 2023 in Saemangeum” (Saemangeum Jamboree), uniting over 43,000 scouts from 158 countries through K-Culture. Minister PARK Bo Gyoon attended the opening ceremony of the 25th World Scout Jamboree in Saemangeum on August 2 (Wed) to welcome youths from around the world. Minister PARK stated, “K-Culture, which captivates global audiences, began to operate vibrantly and charmingly at the Saemangeum Jamboree, harmonizing with the event’s slogan: ‘Draw Your Dream.’ On Cultural Exchange Day, in particular, young citizens from around the world will immerse themselves in K-Culture, nurturing their dreams and fostering unity, which will be vividly remembered by future generations.”

Global Illegal Distribution Stifling K-Content Growth to be Eradicated by Mobilizing International, Interagency, and Private Sectors

On August 1 (Tue), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST), together with the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, the Korea Communications Commission, and the Korean National Police Agency, announced measures to combat illegal K-content distribution, which is stifling K-content growth. The actions are a follow-up to President YOON Suk Yeol’s directive to prepare intergovernmental support measures to eradicate the illegal distribution of K-content and were prepared after a private-government-ruling party consultation on July 31 (Mon), based on discussions at a meeting related to illegal K-content distribution between government, ruling party and public and opinions from the content industry.

The “K-Content Expo,” held since 2016, is a B2B-focused expo that markets K-Contents to key emerging and potential overseas markets and supports the expansion of export channels for domestic content companies.
