Comprehensive Inspection to Fully Prepare for the New and Attractive Sports Festival Gangwon 2024

The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism PARK Bo Gyoon visited major venues, including the Gangneung Oval, which is the opening ceremony site for the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games (opening on January 19, 2024) on September 3 (Sun) to check and inspect the preparations for the event. Starting today, The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) in collaboration with the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee (YOGOC) and Gangwon Province, will launch a 100-day relay promotional campaign with the catchphrase “GW 2024, Shine Together!” Legendary athletes KIM Yuna (Honorary ambassador for Gangwon 2024), LEE Sang Hwa (Co-President of the YOGOC), and CHOI Min Jeong (Honorary ambassador for Gangwon 2024) will lead the relay promotion. In addition, MCST will conduct final concentrated inspections to maintain and upgrade the competition facilities and preparations for the event.

The “2023 A+ Festival,” Korea’s largest culture and arts festival for the people with disabilities started on September 1 (Fri) at the Blue House Chunchugwan and heliport. This festival, running until September 15 (Fri), is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST), hosted by the Federation of Disability Culture and Art Associations of Korea (Standing Representative BAE Eun Joo, FDCA), and organized by the 2023 A+ Festival Organizing Committee (Chairman KIM Seung Soo).

K-Musical Expands to the UK, US, and Japan

Korea Shares Cultural Policy Direction at the G20 Culture Ministers’ Meeting

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) introduced Korea’s cultural policy direction at the G20 Culture Ministers’ Meeting on August 26 (Sat). The Ministry emphasized international collaboration to practice universal values such as freedom and solidarity through cultural exchanges. Also, they sought support from member countries for the bid to host the “World EXPO 2030 Busan.” The meeting was held at the Taj Ganges Varanasi Hotel in Varanasi, India.

Paving the Way for the Globalization of K-Picture Books through newly established “Korea Picture Book Award”

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST), along with the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea (President KIM Jun Hee, KPIPA) established the “Korea Picture Book[1] Award,” which embodies Korea’s reputation and expertise. The award aims to enhance the domestic and international recognition of local picture book authors and their works and provide integrated support for exports. Recognizing the elevated global status of K-Picture Books, including recent significant international awards[2] and export achievements by domestic picture book authors, MCST has established a prestigious domestic picture book award and devised strategies for integrated export support.
