Hallyu Support and Cooperation Division will be created to support the spread of the Hallyu (“Korean Wave”), Policy Analysis Team will be created for overall management and analysis of statistics, and the National Library for the Disabled will be updated to a primary institution.

Reorganization for establishment of Former Jeonnam Provincial Government Building Restoration Bureau.

Reorganization including the establishment of Former Jeonnam Provincial Government Building Restoration Bureau as the temporal organization to be operated until July 31, 2022 in order to implement the Former Jeonnam Provincial Government Building Restoration Project in Gwangju.

Reorganization for establishment Gender Equality Policy Officer.

Reorganization including establishment of gender equality policy officer in the Planning and Coordination Officer for strengthening the gender equality policy function in the culture, sports and tourism field and partial adjustment of duty assignment as changing the title of Planning and Operating Team to Administrative Operation Team in National Museum of Korea for enhancing the digital service capability of the Museum.

2018

December 31
The Digital Media Communication Team and Artwork Storage Center Operation Division (National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) were created.

The Digital Media Communication Team was created within the Spokesperson’s Office to strengthen public communication.
12 employees for the storage and exhibition of artwork and education were added to the staff of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art. Additionally, the Artwork Storage Center Operation Division and the Artwork Storage Center Management Team were created.

August 21
The Sports Legacy Division was created.

For efficient operation, the Tourism Policy Bureau was placed under the purview of theSecond Vice Minister.
To manage and develop legacies created through at international sporting events, such as the Olympic Games, the Sports Legacy Division was created within Sports Bureau.
Korean Sign Language and Korean Braille Promotion Division (National Institute of Korean Language) was removed from the list subjects to evaluate.

July 1
The Digital Media Communication Bureau and the Digital Media Communication Production Division were created.

The Digital Media Communication Bureau and the Digital Media Content Production Division were created within the Public Communications Office to manage online communication affairs of the Ministry and to produce promotional online content.
To strengthen public communication, the Public Promotion Policy Bureau was split into specialized divisions, including: Public Communication Policy Office, Public Promotion Content Panning Bureau to Public Communication Support Bureau, Public Promotion Policy Division to Public Communication Policy Division, Public Promotion Coordination Division to Public Communication Coordination Division, Public Promotion Support Division to Public Communication Support Division, Public Promotion Content Division to Public Communication Content Management Division, and the Online Public Communication Division was changed to the Digital Media Communication Planning Division.
The open recruitment system for the directors of theJeonju National Museum and the Busan National Gugak Center was abolished and the open recruitment system for positions in the Digital Media Communication Division and the Digital Media Communication Production Division were newly created.
2017

September 4
Change to the bureau-centered system. Establishment of Regional Culture Policy Officer. Reorganization to strengthen the organization supporting the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang.

Three offices (Cultural Contents Industry Office, Sports Policy Office, Tourism Policy Office) were changed to bureaus (Contents Policy Bureau, Copyright Bureau, Media Policy Bureau, Tourism Policy Bureau, Sports Bureau). The balanced development of regional culture is systematically implemented by establishing a Regional Culture Policy Officer. Reorganization is executed to strengthen the organization supporting the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang by establishing the Pyeongchang Olympics Support Group. (51 Departments, 16 Officers, 7 Offices, 1 Assistant Undersecretary, 2 Undersecretaries → 1 Team, 51 Departments, 11 Officers, 5 Bureaus, 4 Offices, 1 Assistant Undersecretary, 2 Undersecretaries)
2016

September 29
Reorganization Including the Establishment of the Special Language Promotion Division in the National Institute of the Korean Language

The division was created as an exclusive organization within the National Institute of the Korean Language to promote the right of language for the visual and hearing impaired. Additionally, the Research Institute for Library and Information within the National Library of Korea was reorganized into the Archives Preservation and Research Center. The Serials & Government Publications Division was dismantled when the Archives Division was created. These reorganization efforts were intended to improve the work efficiency of the National Library of Korea.

Reorganization for the Establishment of a Tourism Policy Office and others

Reorganization for the promotion of the tourism industry into a national strategic industry including reorganization of the existing Sports and Tourism Policy Office to a Sports Policy Office and the new establishment of a Tourism Policy Office and a Director General for International Tourism Policy to strengthen functions of coordinating a tourism industry policy and managing international tourism policy .

Reorganization for Establishment of Mireuksaji National Museum

For systematically preserving and displaying the history and culture of Iksan, Mireuksaji National Museum is now under the management of the National Museum of Korea. To reorganize the museum 19 government employees working in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and its affiliated organizations are assigned to implement the national and cooperative projects. Furthermore, for streamlining the management of organization and human resources, the government employees (12) in the administrative category will change their job category to the technical category.

Reorganization for New Establishment of Asian Culture Complex on

Reorganization will be implemented for the following purposes: establishing Asian Culture Complex which will be the base for strengthening the cultural capability of the country through cooperation, education and research activities related to Asian culture as the executive agency under the control of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; specifying the provisions related to the organization of substructure thereof; establishing the Children Museum Division for strengthening the educational functions of the children’s museum in the National Museum of Korea; and establishing the academic research office for strengthening the functions related to academic research in the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History including planning and coordination.

Reorganization for the establishment of the support system for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games

Create the Deputy Minister position responsible for promoting national affairs as well as the Sports Cooperation Bureau and the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games Support Division under the Sports and Tourism Policy Office to support successful hosting of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
Reorganize to strengthen welfare support of artists and increase the number of human resources needed to establish the infrastructure for the development of the popular culture and art industries.

Creation of the Sports and Tourism Policy Office and reorganization of public employee positions to reduce total number of employees

Change the name of the Tourism, Sports, and Leisure Office to the Sports and Tourism Policy Office and reduce 20 public employee positions under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and its agencies so as to pursue the national agenda and collaborative projects.
Reorganize 83 management and operation positions into administrative and technical positions to pursue the reorganization of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as well as improve efficiency of personnel management.

October 23
Reorganization for the Creation of the Culture & Arts Policy Office and Tourism, Sports, & Recreation Office

The Culture and Arts Policy Office and Tourism, Sports, and Recreation Office were newly created to realize the national vision of Cultural Renaissance and strengthen overall management and coordination of the tourism, sports, tourism, and recreation areas. The Media Policy Bureau was reorganized into the Media Policy Office under the Cultural Contents Industry Office, in order to strengthen the integration between contents planning and creation as well as their distribution. The New Media Promotion Division was created within the Public Communication Office to strengthen the promotion of national affairs. The Promotion Group for Asian Hub City of Culture was also reorganized for effective implementation of tasks (Two Vice Ministers, Four Offices, Six Bureaus, One Group, and Ten Officers → Two Vice Ministers, Six Offices, One Group, and 16 Officers).

August 27
Office reorganization for creation of the Winter Olympics Special Zone Planning Team

Create the Winter Olympics Special Zone Planning Team under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to process work of the Special Zone Committee that is responsible for evaluating and coordinating major policies related to the Special Zones for the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics(Creation of a Division).

Office Reorganization for creation of Cultural Infrastructure Bureau and National Hangeul Museum

Reorganize previous Planning Group for Library and Museum Policy as the Cultural Infrastructure Bureau and place the Humanities & Culture Division, Library Policy Division, and Museum Policy Division under the bureau as its sub-organizations; transfer work of Korean studies and national culture under the Cultural Policy Bureau to the Humanities & Culture Division.
Create the National Hangeul Museum (1 general, 3 divisions) to protect and spread culture of Hangeul as the Korean language.

2013

December 12
Reorganization of public employee positions and organizational units to pursue national agenda

Following the National Public Service Law, aimed at eliminating technical and temporary public employee officials, special, temporary, and technical public employee officials under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism were reorganized into general (including professional careerists) and special public employee officials.
Reduce 21 officials in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to pursue national agenda and collaboration projects.
Establish Sports Industry Division in the Sports Bureau to stimulate sports-related industries and job creation.
Conduct reorganization in which previous Operational Assistance Division and Personnel Division were integrated into Operational Assistance Division and other measures were taken to run the ministry more efficiently, following the relocation of the ministry to the Government Complex-Sejong.

November 12
Reorganization of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) due to the opening of MMCA Seoul

Establish MMCA Seoul Office (one department and four divisions) responsible for managing MMCA Seoul due to the branch opening and conduct reorganization of the museum by changing the names of organizational units from “teams” to “divisions” or “offices”.

Reorganization of the MCST to execute major government projects

Change the Planning & Administration Management Officer to the Creative Administration Officer with the aim of implementing major national policies, such as achieving a next-generation administration titled “Government 3.0”.
Establish the Sejong National Library, the Naju National Museum and the Design Team at the National Museum of Korea.
