Fill your “Bucket List” with Korean Local Travel

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) and the Korea Tourism Association (Chairperson YUN Young Ho) hosted the “Korea Travel Expo 2024” at the aT Center in Seocho-gu, Seoul from March 28 (Thur) to 31 (Sun).

 

The MCST’s Second Vice Minister, JANG Mi Ran, attended the opening ceremony on March 28 (Thur), celebrating the expo’s opening and setting up surprise events to tick off visitors’ local tourism “bucket lists.” Minister YU In Chon also visited the Expo site on March 31 (Sun) to encourage officials from local governments and the tourism sector while gathering fresh feedback on regional tourism revitalization.

 

Marking its 21st year, the Korea Travel Expo is the largest travel Expo in Korea, having attracted over 2.14 million visitors since its beginning in 2004. This year’s theme is Tick off Your Bucket List for Local Travel, with 132 organizations and individuals operating over 230 booths offering travel information and related products representing attractions nationwide.

Online sales for discounted travel products on March 29 and 30

 

A wide range of related events were in place for visitors. MBC announcer KIM Dae Ho told his travel narrative on March 28 (Thur) at 1 p.m., followed by a local travel talk concert featuring travel YouTuber Channel Korean Jay on March 30 (Sat) at 11 a.m. The Hanvitdan Hanbok Fashion Show, a short travel video (short form) production lecture, the 21st-anniversary event My Inner 21, neon light lamp creation, local character creating with “color beads,” and other immersive events also took place.

 

In addition, special travel products were showcased. The Korea Tourism Association’s YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/@TV-mt1ex) livestreamed a “Korea Travel Product Live Sales” on March 29 (Fri) and 30 (Sat), offering limited sales of discounted travel products such as Jeju/Chuja Island Bicycle Tour, Jeongseon Romyzian Garden Healing Retreat, City of Love, Iksan Train Journey, and Hongseong Cherry Blossom Plogging Trip.

 

“Pet Stroller” rental service provided for visiting the expo with pets

 

The Expo included a Pet Stroller rental service to assist visitors who attend with their pets, accommodating the growing pet ownership and providing a comfortable resting area. Minister YU stated, “I hope that this Korea Travel Expo allows people to dream of the joy of traveling and discovering their own unique travel experiences,” and “We will actively support the discovery of tourism content that captures the unique characteristics and beauty of regions, ensuring that every corner of Korea vibrates with diverse regional tourism.”
