The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yu In Chon, MCST), in collaboration with the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (President Chang Dong Kwang, KCDF) host the Korea Craft Week 2025 from May 16 (Friday) to 25 (Sunday). Now in its eighth year, the Korea Craft Week is a craft culture festival that features a variety of programs, including exhibitions, hands-on experiences, sales and lectures, to popularize the beauty and value of crafts and spread craft culture.
Under the theme of “Living Together, Craft Together,” this year’s event aspires to serve as a platform for the rediscovery of both the everyday and cultural significance of crafts and for sharing the joy of crafts. From Seoul to Jeju, craft studios, galleries and cultural and art organizations across the nation will join the Korea Craft Week with a total of 112 programs on offer nationwide.
During the Korea Craft Week, local hub cities – Goseong, Buan and Jeonju – to hold craft cultural events by leveraging local resources
The opening ceremony of the Korea Craft Week 2025 was held on May 16 in the KCDF Gallery (Jongno-gu, Seoul) as well as in the local hub cities of Goseong, Buan and Jeonju. At the crossroads of crafts and local culture, each hub region interpreted this year’s theme “Living Together, Craft Together” in diverse ways and shared the historic value and future vision of crafts. Along with the opening ceremony, the KCDF Gallery showcased an exhibition entitled “Future Crafts,” highlighting the diverse aspects of contemporary creative craftworks and presenting future directions for crafts. In connection with the “Future Crafts” exhibit, Culture Station Seoul 284 (RTO) plans to screen a video that features the processes and activities of creating craftworks and organize an academic forum aimed at shaping discourses on future crafts and exploring implementation methods.
