The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST), in collaboration with the Korea International Broadcasting Foundation (President KIM Tae Jeong, KIBT), plans to host “The Senses of K-Culture 2025: Flavors, Style and Relaxation,” a project featuring five events from April to October. In this project, foreigners residing in Korea will visit major K-culture spots and enjoy cultural experiences in Gimpo, Ganghwa and other locales, and share their experiences to promote the charms of Korea throughout the world.

To produce and share content after experiencing diverse foods, arts and activities across Korea

“K-Nangman Route” to offer a special experience in Gimpo and Ganghwa on April 5-7

This year, MCST will help foreign residents in Korea discover hidden gems across the country, as this journey embarks in Gimpo and Ganghwa, traveling to Donghae and Samcheok, Gyeongju, Muju and Jinan, and Gongju and Buyeo. Participants will experience Korean culture for two nights and three days under the themes of flavors (foods), style (arts) and relaxation (activities). Based on these experiences, each participant will produce their own individual video content and post it on their social media account to share with global audiences. This project aims to provide an opportunity for foreign residents in Korea to develop a deeper understanding of and affinity for Korean culture, and their original content will shed fresh light on Korean culture.

The first event will take place on April 5 (Saturday) to 7 (Monday) in Gimpo and Ganghwa in Gyeonggi-do. Under the title of the “K-Nangman Route,” a wide range of programs will allow participants to experience the nangman, or romantic idealism, of enjoying rivers and seas via a unique experience that feels as if they are walking back in time.

Co-production of a local program with broadcasting companies from Mongolia and other countries to better promote Korea

In addition, MCST will post its own video recordings of each event on YouTube via the Arirang TV (www.youtube.com/@KOREAarirangTV) and Korea.net (www.youtube.com/@GatewayToKorea) channels. After the conclusion of the project, a broadcast program featuring participants’ various activities will be produced and aired globally on Arirang TV.

This year, MCST will partner with broadcasters overseas in an effort to promote Korea more effectively. Mongol TV, a private broadcasting company in Mongolia, will participate in this year’s events and produce a TV program that introduces Korean culture, which will be aired locally in Mongolia. In addition, active discussions are underway with other broadcasters overseas for co-production and local broadcasting of similar programs.

“The fact that ‘K-culture’ has become a global buzzword proves the rising stature of Korean culture. However, there are still many hidden charms across Korea,” stated an MCST representative. “I hope that through this project, foreigners residing in Korea will enjoy the essence of Korean culture firsthand and become promoters who spread K-culture throughout the world.”
