“K-Copyright Guide to Choreographic Works” Set for Global Introduction

On April 3, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) is set to announce the forthcoming release and global distribution of the “Guide to Copyright of Choreographic Works”, English edition, originally released in Korean on December 23, 2024.
With K-pop enjoying worldwide success and interest in K-choreography continuing to grow, the English guide is intended to enhance international understanding of K-choreography copyright protection, and take the lead in global discussions in this area. Topics covered include understanding and exercising choreography copyright, identifying authorship, copyright registration procedures, infringement and remedies, and practical case examples.
Distribution Through International Organizations, Bilateral Meetings, and Events,
To Actively Promote the Policy
MCST plans to actively foreground the English edition at international meetings and global events where its policies are promoted. The guide will be introduced in a keynote speech at the Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), set for April 7 in Geneva, Switzerland. The guide content will also be shared during bilateral meetings with key countries such as the United States, China, and Brazil.
