Children Unite Through Art to Create a Dream Stage Together

On August 9 (Fri), Minister YU In Chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) attended the joint performance of the Dream Festival, held at the Alpensia Music Tent in Pyeongchang, and commended the members of the Dream Art Troupe for their outstanding performance.
From August 4 to 9, the MCST, in collaboration with the Korea Arts & Culture Education Service (President PARK Eun Sil, KACES), hosted the inaugural Dream Festival, bringing together Dream Art Troupe from across the country in Gangneung, Jeongseon, Pyeongchang, and other locations throughout Gangwon State. The Dream Festival concluded with a joint performance at Yongpyong Resort in Pyeongchang, showcasing the collaborative efforts of approximately 450 members of the Dream Orchestra and Dream Dance Troupe, who had prepared together during a joint camp from August 7 to 9.
Violinist Danny KOO and Ambiguous Dance Company Director KIM Bo Ram, who served as artistic directors for the joint camp, also participated in the collaborative performance. The members displayed their artistic flair through music and dance, performing works including Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, a choral symphony, and theme songs from Pirates of the Caribbean and The Sound of Music.
Diverse artistic experiences are offered, such as visiting performances and educational programs featuring international artists
The Festival of Dreams, themed “The Journey of Dreams United by the Arts,” began on August 4 with a visiting performance at Jumunjin Beach in Gangneung, offering a unique experience for both locals and tourists. Members of the Dream Orchestra “Pyeongchang,” the Dream Dance Troupe “Gangneung,” and young artists from the Pyeongchang Festival Orchestra at the Pyeongchang Daegwallyeong Music Festival delivered a passionate one-hour performance, eliciting enthusiastic responses from over 200 attendees.
In addition, approximately 100 children and teenagers from across the country who are passionate about dance had the opportunity to learn various body movements and create small performances with internationally renowned artists, including Ákos Hargitay from Hungary and the Morales Company from Germany from August 5 to 6 in Gangneung and Jeongseon.
