-Story-rich Virtual Korean Tours Launched -
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST, Minister Park Yang-woo) and the Tourism Development Institute (TDI, Director Lee Dong-won) announced that they will launch virtual “K-tour Top 10” themed excursions to enable people to experience Korea’s beautiful tourist attractions online and learn their stories.
* The “K-tour Top 10” is a themed tour program that the MCST began offering in 2017 to introduce various Korean tourist attractions to people in Korea and overseas. The 39 cities selected for the program are grouped into 10 regions based on unique themes and stories.
Real-time Online Tours Guided by Local Experts
The virtual tours feature local experts guiding viewers through videos of each destination. K-tour Top 10 trips are available from two sets: those tailored to Korean tourists (six with Korean narration) and those for tourists abroad (nine with English narration). The tour programs in Korean will be on sale until February 25 (Thursday), while the programs in English will be provided until March 20 (Saturday).
The six Korean-narrated tours provide scenes and in-depth information that will help those already familiar with the regions discover new charming points. Tourists of all ages can enjoy the “Daegu Lee Joong-seop Tour,” “Gwangju Yangrim-dong Virtual Tour,” “Today’s Gyeongju” and “Gunsan Time Slip Tour.” The “Gyeongju History Tour” and “Gunsan Modern History Tour” are specifically designed for children. All six tours are available at a 30% discount from myrealtrip.com for 4,900 won each. The two tours for children are also available at nolbal.com for the same price.
The nine virtual English-narrated tours are intended for those unable to visit Korea in person because of the COVID-19 pandemic and will introduce attractive tourist spots and local delicacies. The detailed itineraries provided will greatly help those who are able to actually travel to Korea after the pandemic. To purchase a tour, visit global online travel platforms viator.com or kkday.com and search “Korea Virtual Tour.” Each tour is priced around US$10.
* Regions included in virtual tour packages for foreign nationals: Suwon, Gangneung, Daegu, Busan, Gyeongju, Jeonju, Mokpo, Gongju/Buyeo, Danyang/Jecheon
