Minister YU attended the Opening Ceremony of INSPIRE Resort in Yeongjong Island in Incheon

Minister YU In Chon of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) visited INSPIRE Entertainment Resort (President Chen Si, INSPIRE) on March 5 (Tue) which opened its doors on Yeongjong Island in Incheon.

 

During the opening ceremony, Minister YU stated, “The opening of INSPIRE signifies more than the mere addition of another casino in Korea; it represents a pivotal first step toward enhancing the stature of Korean culture and tourism. I hope that INSPIRE’s continuous investment and endeavors to position itself as a globally competitive Korean-style integrated resort will culminate in great success.”

 

In January, MCST issued its final approval for a foreigner-only casino operation at “INSPIRE,” marking the first such approval for foreign investors in 19 years, since 2005. INSPIRE is poised to be at the forefront of attracting foreign tourists interested in K-culture, featuring not just a casino but also various tourism infrastructure facilities, such as a multipurpose, professional performance venue with 15,000 seats; 1,275 five-star hotel rooms; international conference facilities; a large indoor water park; shopping malls; and restaurants.

Furthermore, Minister YU inspected key facilities at INSPIRE, including the professional performance venue (arena), digital street, and casino, ahead of the commemorative event. He commended the efforts of stakeholders who have endeavored to elevate the tourist appeal through integration with K-culture. Minister YU expressed hope that INSPIRE would evolve into another gateway for spreading Korean culture across Asia and the globe.
