Date Feb 22, 2024

Celebrate “Travel Month:” Get a KRW 30,000 discount on select accommodations for bookings over KRW 50,000 in regions outside the capital area

Vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis daily at 10 a.m. from Feb 27 through 40 channels from 46 participating online travel agencies

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) is poised to invigorate local tourism further with the distribution of an additional 110,000 accommodation vouchers starting Feb 27. This initiative follows the successful distribution of 90,000 vouchers during the Lunar New Year holidays as part of the “Travel Month” celebration.

Available from February 27 (Tue) at 10 a.m. every day, on a first-come, first-served basis, these vouchers are accessible through 40 channels of 46 online travel agencies[1], until fully claimed. Eligible reservations exceeding KRW 50,000 will benefit from a KRW 30,000 discount, specifically aimed at boosting tourism in provinces outside the Seoul metropolitan area (excluding Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon). Accommodations covered include hotels, condos, resorts, guesthouses, and rural bed and breakfasts (B&Bs), with unregistered facilities and hourly rentals excluded.

Vouchers are Valid for Stays between February 27 and April 14

Voucher holders must book (and pay for) their stay during the voucher’s active hours, from 10 a.m. on the day of issuance until 7 a.m. the following day to avoid expiration. If unused or canceled, individuals have the opportunity to reapply for a voucher starting at 10 a.m. the following day. These vouchers are applicable for stays within the specified period, between February 27 (Tue) and April 14 (Sun). Those who availed of discounts during the Lunar New Year holidays (February 7–25) can also apply for and use new vouchers during this period, with another opportunity available in June’s “Travel Month,” providing vouchers for those who missed out.

Comprehensive details on voucher usage are available on the “2024 Korea Accommodation Sale Festa” official website (https://ktostay.visitkorea.or.kr). For further assistance, inquiries can be addressed to the call center at ☎ 1670-3980.

Efforts to Curb the Side Effects of Price Increases on Accommodations

KIM Geun Ho, MCST Director-General of Tourism Industry Policy Bureau, emphasized, “To mitigate potential price increase repercussions, we advise all participating entities against unwarranted rate hikes, reserving the right to withholding subsidies in such instances. These discount vouchers aim to facilitate enjoyable and affordable travel experiences, thus boosting local tourism and economic activity.”
