Am I the only one who didn’t know? Only I want to know! Selected as one of 100 night tourist attractions nationwide

The 100 Night Tour Spots selected this time included famous night views such as N Seoul Tower as well as recently launched attractions. Representative examples include the Han River Light Show in Seoul, using drones, the Gwangalli Marvelous Drone Light Show in Busan, Guryongpo Park Stairs using media art in Pohang, and DPIRANG in Tongyeong. Festivals that can be held once a year, such as the Daejeon Zero O’Clock Festival and the Buan Red Sunset Festival, were also named.

The nighttime experience programs are also worth paying attention to. Ghost Park in Mungyeong offers an eerie experience at the Gaeun Open Set in Gyeonggi-do, famous as the filming location for the Netflix drama “Kingdom.” The program promises a spooky experience. In Gwangju, the Yangnim History & Culture Village and Night Docent Tour is a special art journey along the dark alleyways to encounter the art museum at night, enabling visitors to discover the beauty that they may have missed during the day.

Moonlight Galmaetgil walks in Busan is a leisure-type night tourism content that allows you to see the cityscape at night, which is different from the daytime, while walking. Byeol Byeol SS Chilseong Night Market in Daegu hosts cultural performances from Friday to Sunday, allowing you to enjoy delicious food and performances along with the night view of Sincheon Stream.

The selected 100 Night Tour Spots were recommended by local governments, and after expert reviews, the final list was confirmed. Detailed information can be found on the theme page of korean.visitkorea.or.kr. In addition, a word-of-mouth event is being held until November 19 on the event page of the website and the blog (blog.naver.com/korea_diary). To participate, choose the spot you want to visit from the 100 selected attractions and share it on your personal SNS account with a hashtag (#).

The prolonged stay because of nighttime tourism is aiding in the revitalization of the local economy.

The MCST has been selecting and supporting specialized cities for nighttime tourism since 2022, aiming to attract more local tourists and prolong their stay, thus boosting the local economy. In 2022, Incheon Metropolitan City and Tongyeong City in Gyeongsangnam-do Province were selected, and in 2023, Busan Metropolitan City, Daejeon Metropolitan City, Gangneung City in Gangwon-do Province, Jeonju City in Jeollabuk-do Province, and Jinju City in Gyeongsangnam-do Province were chosen.

In Incheon, major nighttime tourism events such as All Nights INCHEON and Songdo Marble Walk concentrated in Songdo resulted in a 53% increase in foreign visitors compared to the same period the previous year. The total number of visitors also increased by 14.5% during the same period. In particular, the number of visitors during nighttime hours increased by 24.7%, and the average length of stay increased by 28.7%, indicating that nighttime tourism content played a significant role in the increase in visitor numbers.

PARK Jong Taek, Director-General of the MCST Tourism Policy Bureau, stated, “We plan to discover diverse and innovative nighttime tourism content in the region and actively promote nighttime tourism. Based on this, we aim to attract tourists and prolong their stay to revitalize the local economy.”
