The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yu In Chon, MCST) in collaboration with the Korea Creative Content Agency (President JO Hyun Rae, KOCCA) will present “The Oulim” tech-integrated exhibition at London’s renowned Saatchi Gallery from October 28 (Sat) to November 5 (Sun).

In celebration of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and the United Kingdom, MCST has curated this exhibition with the theme “Harmonious Connect.” It showcases a fusion of Korea’s advanced technology with artistic innovation. Furthermore, the event seeks to strengthen the international foothold of Korean companies through industry networking opportunities.

Showcasing Cultural Content Using Globally Recognized AI and Other Cutting-Edge Technologies

The exhibition features 80 pieces spanning artificial intelligence (AI) tools and, metaverse and nonfungible tokens (NFTs), virtual reality (VR) experiences, and media art contents.

Particularly of note are the digital avatars powered by the globally recognized AI, ChatGPT, and AI-based authoring tools. In addition, the showcase presents concert footage of renowned groups such as BTS and (G)I-DLE, as well as content from the TV show “Extraordinary Attorney Woo.” This offers audiences a unique insight into the global cultural trends influenced by the Korean Wave.

For media art, works inspired by traditional Korean culture take the spotlight. Visitors can explore pieces such as the National Museum of Korea’s “Royal Procession with the People,” the National Gugak Center’s “Jongmyo Jeryeak,” and Post Media’s “Joseon Royal Tombs.” Moreover, companies such as d'strict, KALLOS, and WIZWID have crafted works that dive deep into the diverse facets of Korean culture.

There are also plans to exhibit a wide array of content, from the metaverse, NFTs, and VR to hologram-based games, movies, shows, and music.

Industry Exchange Event to Launch on October 28

The grand opening is at 5:00 p.m. on October 28, featuring an exchange event with 40 prominent content companies such as the United Kingdom’s Sandbox VR[1] and 20 Korean firms. On October 30 (Mon), an agreement between KOCCA and PICO[2] will expand the distribution of Korean VR content globally.

MCST’s YUNE Yang Su stated, “Through ‘The Oulim,’ we aim to present Korea’s tech-infused content together with Korean Wave intellectual property (IP) and cultural strength to the United Kingdom and Europe. We’ll actively support the event to foster opportunities for our enterprises.”
