The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST), with the Korea Tourism Association (President YUN Yong-ho, KTA) co-hosts the “Korea Travel Expo 2023” at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), Seoul, from April 13 (Thur) to 16 (Sun) under the theme of “Domestic Travel Bucket List” to kick-start K-tourism, which will become a growing engine to revitalize domestic demand.
The “Korea Travel Expo,” now in its 20th year, is the first event of the K-tourism revitalization plan announced by the MCST at the 15th Emergency Economic and Civil Affairs Conference on March 29 (Wed). There will be more than 200 exhibits at the expo, with 99 organizations offering various travel products and information to assist attendees with creating their own travel bucket lists and traveling freely.
Specifically, while previous fairs focused on providing information on famous attractions, this year’s fair will focus on introducing information about hidden local travel destinations, such as the Hadong Jeonggeum Tea Garden, Gochang Green Barley Field, Geochang Changpowon Garden, and Yeongwol Seonam Village. Furthermore, from April 13 (Thur) to 15 (Sat), various local travel products like Gangjin, Yecheon, Gangneung, and Goheung will be sold at special discounted prices during the “Korea Travel Expo 2023 product LIVE Sale” in collaboration with travel agencies.
Growing pet population, a travel expo for taking photos, relaxing, and playing with your pets
The expo also includes a variety of pet-friendly travel content to reflect the growing pet population trend. At the Travels with Pets “Travel Planning Pavilion,” there is a photo zone where people can take travel concept photos with their pets. There is also a space where people can relax with their pets while reading about various pet travel information provided by the Korea Tourism Organization. At Conference Hall, Mr. LEE Tae-gyu of PetsGo Travel will be invited to host a seminar on pet-friendly destinations and travel services. In addition, there will be a “dog carriage” rental service for bringing pets to the fair.
There are also various activities and events, such as an exhibition for poster and promotional video contest winners, the My Country Treasure Hunt Event (Stamp Tour), busking performances, etc. The opening ceremony will take place on April 13(Thur) at the DDP Art Hall. He added, “We hope that the Korean people will work together to launch the K-Tourism express engine so that Korea can become a travel bucket list for people all over the world through this My Country Travel Fair.”
