The 15th Trilateral Cultural Content Industry Forum held in Jeju on October 27 and 28 and joint statement adopted
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) together with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, and the Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan held the 15th Trilateral Cultural Content Industry Forum from October 27 (Thu) to October 28 (Fri) and adopted a joint statement of ways for trilateral cooperation in culture and content between the three countries.
The Trilateral Cultural Content Industry Forum is a consultative body to expand trilateral exchange and cooperation in the culture and content industry. It serves as a venue to share relevant policies and information and support corporate exchanges. The three countries have taken turns hosting the Forum since 2002. During the pandemic, it had to be held virtually, but took place in person on Jeju this year for the first time in three years. The Chinese side continued to participate in a virtual manner due to ongoing concerns around the coronavirus and other reasons.
On October 27, KIM Jae-hyeon, Director General of the MCST’s Content Policy Bureau, as well as other people at the director general-level from Japan and the PRC were present at the intergovernmental meeting and engaged in an in-depth discussion focusing on the status of the immersive content industry in the three countries and possible ways for exchange and cooperation. Related presentations were given by government personnel while public agency and association representatives also presented on possible areas of collaboration.
Representatives of the three countries then adopted a “Joint Statement of the 15th Trilateral Cultural Content Industry Forum,” which reflected the discussion. The Joint Statement dealt with expansion of cooperation in culture and content, further corporate exchange, information sharing through online platforms, and assistance for companies to create related business opportunities.
Network built among content companies from the three countries; forum participants visit Jeju’s Arte Museum
On October 28, representative content companies from the three countries[1] presented on their successes and engaged in networking at the gathering, which is expected to further corporate exchange as well as trust.
The participants also visited Arte Museum Jeju to see an immersive media art exhibition entitled, “Eternal Nature.”
MCST Director General KIM said, “The influence of the culture and content industry is even bigger post-pandemic as is the need for trilateral cooperation in this regard. I anticipate this forum will serve as a stepping stone for greater trilateral exchange and cooperation in culture and content and for our three countries to move toward a path of joint prosperity.”
