Oh Young-soo from “Squid Game”, Monika from “Street Woman Fighter” Became Ambassador for “2022 Welcome Daehakro”

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) announced on July 25 (Mon) that actor Oh Young-soo from the popular streaming drama “Squid Game” and choreographer Monika from the entertainment show “Street Woman Fighter” became ambassadors for the “2022 Welcome Daehakro” to attract visitors at home and abroad and promote Korean theaters and festivals.
Oh Yong-soo, who became the ambassador for the “2022 Welcome Daehakro” started acting in theater in 1967 and has appeared in more than 200 productions. Oh portrayed Il-nam in streaming drama “Squid Game”, which gave him global popularity and won him Golden Globe Award for best Supporting actor, which also showed the popularity of Korean content globally.
Choreographer Monica, appointed as the ambassador for “2022 Welcome Daehakro”, created a dance craze in Korea through Street Woman Fighter and contributed to expanding the scope of dance. Her passion for dance and creativity are expected to create a positive vibe with the 2022 Welcome Daehakro festival, promoting Korea’s diverse performance culture and works to the world.
Since 2017, MCST together with the Korea Tourism Organization (Acting President SHIN Sang-yong, KTO) and the Korea Performance Arts & Tourism Association (President KIM Kyung-hoon, KPATA) have been holding “Welcome Daehakro”, a performance tourism festival. For the past two years the festival was held virtually due to the pandemic. However, this year’s event will be held in Daehakro from September 24 to October 30 on spot. The event will present a variety of attractions that domestic and foreign tourists can enjoy together, including 100 performances, street performances (Welcome Theater), and online performances (Welcome K-Stage).
