Seven Thousand Korean Culture Honorary Ambassadors Connect Korea with the World

The Korean Culture and Information Service (Director PARK Myung-soon, KOCIS) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) held launching ceremony of the 7,000 Korean Culture Honorary Ambassadors at MBC, Seoul, on May 20 (Fri) to celebrate and mark “TOGETHER DAY”. Under the theme of “Harmony with K-Culture”, this ceremony was aired via the KOREA.NET Youtube channel and the virtual world (Metaverse) called “Korea World”.
KOCIS publicly went through process of selecting honorary reporters and K-influencers this year. As a result, a total of 4,834 honorary reporters from 122 countries were selected and 1,856 K-influencers from 103 countries joined on board this year. This figure is an increase of approximately 2,000 people compared to the previous year, and the number of people in terms of their nationality and language were diversified, showing that the world's interest in Korean culture is continuously increasing.
The honorary ambassadors selected this year will write articles, share and uploads photos, and videos related to Korea in their own language from a non-Korean’s perspective, promoting Korea to the world and engaging in activities to communicate and exchange with people around the world.
In addition, KOCIS is running an online festival until May 26 (Thur) for honorary ambassadors to enjoy Korean culture in more diverse ways. Through the KOREA.NET YouTube channel, there are abundant opportunities for ambassadors to experience and enjoy Korean culture, such as seeing the Blue House and holding a quiz competition, and learning Korean traditional games.
