The Smart Stadium at Gocheok Sky Dome and Jeju World Cup Stadium

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) together with the Korea Professional Sports Association (President CHO Won-tae, KPSA) created the Smart Stadium at Gocheok Sky Dome, a home field for Kiwoom Heroes of the Korean Baseball Organization and Jeju World Cup Stadium, a home field for Jeju United Football Club.

 

The Smart Stadium uses the state-of-the-art technology based on huge data to provide convenient environment, customized services and various information to spectators. Since 2018, MCST has been carrying out the project for creating the smart stadiums. In 2021, Kiwoom Heroes and Jeju United Football Club were selected as the two teams to create the smart stadium through application process.

 

The Kiwoom Heroes team applies Augmented Reality (AR) via dedicated application to recognize athletes on stage, which was first unveiled during the opening match. Spectators will be able to find out the athletes information and competition data by recognizing the venue via the application in their phones. In addition, information about games and athletes as well as more services will enhance spectators experience. The application will provide information on major facilities, congested service areas, 360 degree view, and way finding services inside the stadium. .

 

Jeju United Football Club will provide competition information and real-time videos (LIVE CAM) for games, real-time photo of the venue, and data analysis for competition via mobile webpage. Moreover, various helpful and entertaining information, including famous restaurants to visit near the venue will also be provided for better pleasure of the spectators.
