[Oct] ‘Feel the Rhythm of Korea’ Season 2 airs on YouTube
Date Sep 30, 2021
Dozens of tractors carrying colorfully dressed Korean farmers roar down an expansive mud flat in Seosan, Chungcheongnam-do Province, one of the five biggest tidal flats in the world.
The video, aptly nicknamed “Mud Max,” is reminiscent of the iconic chase scene from the 2015 action thriller “Mad Max: Fury Road.” It is part of the new season of the Korea Tourism Organization’s hit promotional series “Feel the Rhythm of Korea.”
The series went viral last year for its quirky yet memorable presentation of tourist spots in six Korean cities with the music of alternative pop band Leenalchi playing in the background and people dancing to the choreography of Ambiguous Dance Company.
Since its September 3 release, the new video featuring Seosan’s natural scenery has garnered more than 20 million views on YouTube. The seven other equally popular clips, averaging around 17 million views, introduce different cities across the peninsula: the capital Seoul; the eastern port cities of Gangneung and Yangyang in mountainous Gangwon-do Province; Daegu, Korea’s third-largest city; the southern port city of Busan, the second-largest city; Suncheon in Jeollanam-do Province; and the historical cities of Gyeongju and Andong in Gyeongsangbuk-do Province.
As a fusion of contemporary ballads and rap mixed with traditional folk songs plays in the background, the new season of “Feel the Rhythm of Korea” turns its attention to the lifestyles of local residents rather than the typical, well-known tourist attractions.
